What is Scribble?

Scribble is the classic draw and guess game: one player draws a secret word, everybody else races to type it first. If you grew up playing Pictionary on paper, it's that, except the other players are real people online and the room is already full when you arrive. It runs in your browser on a phone or laptop. There's nothing to download and no account to make.

The room is shared with FunChat, so you're not waiting for your own friends to log on. Open the page, tap Play now, and you're drawing or guessing inside a few seconds.

How a round works

  1. Someone is picked to draw. They choose from a few words. Everyone else sees only blanks, one per letter, and the hint fills in as the clock runs down.
  2. Draw it, don't write it. Pick a colour and brush size, undo a bad line, or wipe the board and start again. Writing the answer into the picture is cheating, and the room will tell you so.
  3. Guess in the box. Type what you think it is. A correct guess scores, and the faster you land it the more you get. The drawer scores every time someone gets it.
  4. Turns rotate. When the timer ends or everyone has it, the word is revealed and the next player takes the pen. Points reset every 33 days, so a new player can always climb.

Tips from people who play a lot

  • Start with the big shape. A rough outline gets a guess faster than careful detail.
  • Use colour on purpose. A yellow circle with rays says sun before you've finished.
  • Guess short words first. If the blanks say four letters, don't type a sentence.
  • Watch the hint. Once a couple of letters appear, the field narrows quickly.
  • Try the voice chat. It's off until you tap it, and it makes bad drawings a lot funnier.

Scribble questions, answered

Is Scribble free?

Yes. It's free, it runs in the browser.

Do I need an account or an app?

No. You get a random name straight away and can change it whenever you like.

Is this like Skribbl.io or Pictionary?

It's the same idea: draw, guess, score. The difference is that the room is a shared public one with other FunChat players, with optional voice chat built in.

Can I play with friends only?

Send them this page and tap Play now at the same time. You'll land in the same room, and you can talk over the in-game voice chat.

Someone drew something rude. What do I do?

Tap the flag at the top of the game to report that drawing. Our team reviews reports.

Prefer talking? Try a random text chat, a voice call, or the public chatrooms.
